San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf

Last Sunday July 5, 2005, in the name of celebrating the end of Summer School Session A, and exploring the exciting wonders of public transportation, with an empty stomach, directions at hand, and my trusty camera, I emarked on my first, foremost, and unprecedented half-day journey to San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf. I left at around ten o'clock. I took the F bus (free with student ID) to SF, then took F line/Fisherman's Wharf bus ($1.25) located on South Corner of Market and First street to FW. There were actually a lot more people than I anticipated, generally elderly people with time to spare like I was. I walked around Jefferson street, saw many many interesting things and places, including various celebrities, several street performances, and Bourdin bread factory. After two hours of casual sightseeing I landed at Fishermen's Grotto determined to have the most delicous clam chowder and leave with a happy wallet. If a natural experiment needed to be done on oligopoly, game theory, or collusion, this is probably the ideal place to do it, as I had discovered that all of these vendors had very similar prices, and logically and predictablly (or not) the first vendor being the most expensive (on every item on the menu), the second being the cheapest, and the rest with the same prices, they are able to keep their prices of Bread Bowl Clam Chowder lower by about 50 cents on average than other vendors (on a side note, Bourdin sells the most expensive bread bowl clam chower at $6.50 per bowl). Though nothing looked very sanitary, that's what stomach acid is for, no? After leaving with a satisfying stomach, I walked towards Pier 39, the weather was beautiful, and fog started to gather around the Golden Gate Bridge making it a perfect Kodak moment. I left SF FW at around 2:30 and took 13 Muni (free with receipt) and BART ($3.05) back to Berkeley. Public transportation is awesome (with the most sincere respect for the BART workers)!

Here are some of the pictures that I took:
